Note 1. The Chribbs children were listed in Elizabeth Chribbs v. William Chribbs, October 1806 General Court orders, Indiana Territory General Court Case Files, Box 10, Folder 678, Indiana State Archives, Commission on Public Records.

Note 2. Hannah’s middle name has generally been listed in genealogies as McKinley, although the basis is unknown beyond the “M” that appears on her gravestone. Perhaps she was named instead after her father’s business partner, James McCawley of Smithland, Kentucky; in handwriting, the two names are remarkably similar.
